Website architecture in plain words

Website architecture is how your pages are grouped and connected. It covers your menu, the address of each page and the links between them. Good architecture means a visitor can reach anything important in a few taps, and Google can follow the same paths.

Why Google cares

Search engines discover pages by following links. A page with no links pointing to it is hard to find and is often treated as unimportant. Clear groups, like one page per service with links to related work, help Google understand what you offer and which pages matter most.

A simple structure that works

Start with a homepage, then one page for each main service, a page showing your work, an about page and a contact page. Keep addresses short and readable, like /services/website-design. Link each service to the projects that prove it and to guides that answer common questions.

How to plan your sitemap

Write every page you need on a list. Group them under four or five headings that match how customers think, not how your business is organised inside. Those headings become your menu. Then make sure every page links to at least one other related page.

Once the site is live, submit a sitemap file to Google Search Console so new pages are found quickly.
